09 Feb High School Service Project Day
On January 27, High School students spent the day volunteering in the community for Service Project Day. Each grade served at a different local non-profit organization. Students in 9th grade attended The Fruitful Field, where they worked in the community garden and helped to provide fresh produce to underserved families in the community, and at Feeding South Florida, where they packed 10,000 pounds of food.
Students in 10th grade served for Heart2Heart Outreach, where they were split between two care center facilities impacting 40 senior citizens. Students in 11th and 12th grade served at Homes United helping with painting and home maintenance across ten homes.
Westminster Academy received several notes of gratitude from the organizations celebrating what that day meant to the people who were impacted: “The Feeding South Florida team thanks the Westminster Academy students for their hard work and efforts to help us serve the nearly 1.1 million food-insecure individuals in our quad-county service area during these trying times. They played a vital part in our daily operations by helping to inspect and sort donated food. Thanks to their service, families, kids, individuals, and older adults will have food on their table.” —With gratitude, Ruth Bonet, Volunteer Engagement Manager, Feeding South Florida
