Sixth-Grade Spiritual Retreat

Sixth-Grade Spiritual Retreat

The sixth-grade students had an unforgettable spiritual retreat as part of their faith journey, centered around the theme “God’s Blueprint on Love,” inspired by Matthew 22:37–39, where Jesus teaches about the greatest commandments: to love God with all your heart, soul, and mind, and to love your neighbor as yourself. This foundational concept shaped their day as they reflected on how love is central to their relationship with God and others.

The retreat kicked off with a motivational talk by Mr. John Van Hofwegen, who encouraged the students to think deeply about how God’s love guides their lives. This set the tone for a day filled with both spiritual reflection and exciting challenges. One of the highlights was the adventure at Treetop Trekking Miami, where students engaged in physical activities that tested their courage, trust, and teamwork. This adventurous outing symbolized how faith, like climbing and navigating treetops, requires trust, both in oneself and in God’s guiding presence.

After lunch, Pastor Ben Langley led the students in a series of devotions, providing a peaceful space for them to reflect on the day’s lessons and connect more deeply with God through prayer and discussion. These devotions were instrumental in helping the students internalize the retreat’s message, offering them time for personal reflection on how they could apply the theme of love in their daily lives.

The retreat concluded with a visit to the historic Venetian Pool, where the students relaxed and bonded in a fun, carefree setting. This time at the pool gave them an opportunity to further connect with one another, solidifying the sense of community and shared faith that had been built throughout the day.

This combination of spiritual reflection, physical challenges, and recreational fun made for a meaningful and memorable day for the sixth-grade students.
