Eighth-Grade Washington, D.C. Trip

Eighth-Grade Washington, D.C. Trip

Our eighth-grade students recently returned from an incredible trip to Washington, D.C.—a memorable tradition that brings classroom lessons to life while deepening their understanding of our nation’s history and Christian heritage.

Led by Civics teacher Mr. Williams, the trip was designed to explore history, civic engagement, and a biblical worldview. Students toured many of our nation’s most significant sites, including the U.S. Capitol, Supreme Court, and Library of Congress, learning firsthand about the foundations of American government.

They visited powerful memorials such as the Lincoln Memorial, WWII, Vietnam, Korean War, MLK, and Jefferson Memorials. A moving highlight was their visit to Arlington National Cemetery, where students participated in a wreath-laying ceremony honoring those who sacrificed for our freedoms.

The group also explored the Museum of the Bible, National Archives, and Holocaust Museum, reflecting on the role faith and history play in shaping our country. Worship at St. John’s Church, known as the “President’s Church,” was a meaningful reminder of God’s presence throughout history and in our nation’s leadership.

We are grateful to our teachers, staff, and chaperones for making this trip possible. It was an unforgettable experience that strengthened students’ knowledge, faith, and appreciation for the freedoms we enjoy.
