Our Westminster Academy community celebrated Veterans Day with gratitude and joy. K–12 students gathered for a meaningful chapel, welcoming veterans from our community and praying with their Prayer Buddies. Colonel Barry Gorter—WA alumni parent and decorated Air Force leader—shared about military service and encouraged students to stay “on target” by putting on the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:10–17). It’s been an exciting season for our Fine Arts students, filled with incredible performances, honors, and achievements across choir, orchestra, band, and theatre. Choir:Congratulations to Greta Harms, who represented WA in the Florida ACDA Honor Choir. Greta was one of just 176 students selected statewide to perform John Rutter’s Gloria under the direction of world-renowned conductor Dr. André Thomas—a remarkable accomplishment that showcased her talent and dedication. Cross Country:Congratulations to our Ladies’ and Men’s Cross Country teams—both crowned District Champions! We are excited to share that 51 Westminster Academy students have been recognized by the College Board as AP Scholars for their outstanding academic achievement on multiple Advanced Placement (AP) Exams. Each fall, the AP Program honors high school students across the nation who demonstrate exceptional college-level success through their AP coursework and exams. WA senior Ryann Mahoney has received early admission to the University of Chicago through the UChicago Summer Student Early Notification option—a prestigious and highly selective program available only to students who have completed a UChicago Pre-College Summer Session. The Summer Student Early Notification option allows participants from UChicago’s residential or online summer programs to apply in their senior year as part of a binding early admission process.
