At the end of February, high school students spent the day volunteering in the community for Service Project Day. Each grade served at a different local nonprofit organization, meeting real needs in our community. Ninth-grade students attended The Fruitful Field, where they worked in the community garden and helped provide fresh produce to needy families. Students mulched and weeded five fields and painted garden equipment for the community garden. They also served at Hope South Florida by preparing 200 sandwiches and 200 hygiene bags to distribute to the homeless community. They served 225 individuals a hot meal and sorted 150 pounds...

Students in fourth grade took a trip to the oldest city in the U.S., known for its Spanish colonial architecture and rich history. Day one included the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument, the Old Jail, the Heritage Museum, the General Store, and a walking tour visiting historical landmarks around the city. On day two, visits included the Old Town Trolley Tour, the Military Hospital, the Lightner Museum featuring an immersive experience of art, architecture, history, and design, and then the Potters Wax Museum, which is the first established wax museum in the country. Students learned quite a bit about historical events...

Our WA High School Robotics Competition Team, FRC Team 744, Shark Attack, recently competed in the South Florida Regional Competition at the Broward County Convention Center. The efforts of key mentors and students working many late nights resulted in a robot designed with key defensive and offensive advantages. Two strong teams chose our robot and team in the second round of alliance selection. Shark Attack won the quarterfinals and semifinals and advanced to the finals. Congratulations to Anthony Barbar on being selected as the 2023 Independent School Player of the Year for the Florida Dairy Farmer High School Sports Award! Congratulations to our WA Junior Thespian Troupe, who recently participated in the Orlando Florida State Junior Thespian competition. Our students shined for God’s glory throughout the competition! Two of our sixth graders in the technical categories submitted costume designs and presented their ideas to judges from prestigious theater companies. Another presented his stage set design to a panel of judges, including a Disney Cruise Line stage productions director. For the performance events, our students competed in improvisation, large and small group musicals, and solo events, judged by a panel of Broadway singers and New York producers.
