Join us this Friday, August 16, at 6:00 p.m. for the Varsity Football Kickoff Classic and Back-to-School Tailgate at the West Campus Athletic Complex. The Lions Varsity Football Team will take on the Somerset Academy Key Lions with the game kickoff at 7:00 p.m. There will be fun for the whole family! Be sure to come hungry—food will be available from food trucks, and the Lions Athletic Club Concessions Stand will be open. Both cash and credit cards will be accepted. Every year, the National Football Foundation hosts the Brian Piccolo Awards Banquet. This awards dinner pays tribute to the late Brian Piccolo, a standout football player for St. Thomas Aquinas, Wake Forest, and in the NFL with the Chicago Bears. In addition, it gathers 41 senior student-athletes from Broward County schools who excel both academically and on the football field. This morning, Shawn Cerra from the Brian Piccolo Chapter of the National Football Foundation joined us on campus to share that WA senior Anthony Barbar was selected as the 2024 overall winner of the Brian Piccolo Award. Congratulations to our WA District 7 Thespian Troupe 8570 for their outstanding performances at the 2024 Florida State Thespian competition in Tampa. We are excited to announce that all high school students who performed received an excellent or superior rating! In addition to their performance pieces, the students participated in various workshops and watched two fabulous mainstage performances of Newsies and The Miracle Worker.
