Why Give To The Annual Fund?

Family Matters

Students Matter

Teachers Matter

Alumni Matter

The Future Matters

A Tradition of Generosity

Combined with tuition, your generosity supports every student, every teacher, every day. The Annual Fund serves to invest in people, strengthen programs, and enhance places on our campuses. Unrestricted gifts to the Annual Fund give the school greater flexibility to support schoolwide priorities throughout the year.

Every year, the school strives for a high level of participation from the School Board, faculty, staff, current families, alumni, alumni families, grandparents, and friends of the school. Our fiscal year runs July 1 to June 30 and every parent is encouraged to participate every year.

Every family is asked to support the Annual Fund. Our goal is 100% participation. This symbolizes a collective investment in the school’s excellence and also increases opportunities for funding through grants.

Every gift, regardless of the amount, enhances the WA experience and is an investment in the mission of our school. Each fall, The PawPrint recognizes all of our donors’ contributions from the prior fiscal year.

Participation at any level demonstrates a commitment of financial support and encourages others to support our mission. Gifts of very different sizes may be equal in generosity.

As a 501C(3) non-profit organization, all gifts to Westminster Academy are deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. We are also accredited by the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA). Our operating budget is based on a fiscal year beginning July 1 through June 30. All donors will be recognized in our annual report, the PawPrint. If you wish to remain anonymous, please note your desire when making your donation.

Where Can I Give?

Annual Fund

The purpose of the Annual Fund is to:

Invest in People—Student tuition assistance, faculty compensation initiative to retain and recruit faculty

Strengthen Programs—Academics, athletics, fine arts, robotics

Enhance Places—Safety and security measures, improvements to our east and west campuses

Designated Gifts

Funds restricted for a specified campus project or purpose within one of our programs are also greatly appreciated and directly benefit the project or purpose of your choosing.

Capital Projects

The school launches capital campaigns as needs arise for specific initiatives. Capital campaign gifts are usually larger in size than an Annual Fund contribution and may be pledged over multiple years. During a campaign, donors are asked to support both the Annual Fund and the campaign, ensuring Annual Fund initiatives are sustained while embarking on major fundraising initiatives.

How Can I Give?

Cash Donations

WA accepts cash, check, and credit card (MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Discover). Cash or check may be submitted to the Development Office.

Pledge/Recurring Gift

WA appreciates gift commitments (pledges) which are documented in writing and payable by an agreed upon and specified date. Many donors also find it convenient to set up an automatic recurring gift online. A pledge does not provide the donor with an income tax deduction until the year in which it is paid. To obtain your pledge balance, contact Development Assistant, Lynn Barbar, at barbarl@wa.edu.

Securities

Gifts of financial assets like stocks and bonds are potentially more advantageous than cash gifts. The receipt for your stock transfer is based on the stock’s fair-market value on the date it is transferred to WA. These gifts provide considerable tax advantages when transferred to WA before they are sold. For assets of this type that have been held for more than one year, the gift may provide a two-fold tax benefit—creating a tax deduction as well as helping to avoid the capital gains tax from their sale. Gifts In Kind

Contributions of goods and services that are given to meet the needs of the school are valued. Our annual auction is our largest fundraiser of the year and the success of this event is dependent on gifts in kind.

Employer Matching Gifts

Increase your contribution at no additional cost to you! Many employers give generously to non-profit educational institutions by matching employees’ charitable contributions. Some provide matching funds to support employee volunteer hours. Most of these programs match contributions dollar for dollar, and some will even double or triple the amount of your gift.

Planned Giving

Make a plan today, that will impact students’ tomorrows. Planned giving offers individuals and families a way of making a charitable contribution to scholarly Christian education through outright gifts, bequests, annuities, insurance policies, and the establishment of endowed funds. The Development Office is prepared to assist families interested in creating a legacy as part of their overall financial and estate planning.
